Ladies Wing Events
The IEI Ladies Wing and Science Club have been working earnestly to enhance the IEI motto ever since their inception. It is said that Women symbolize “Prakriti” which means “nature” in the Indian philosophy. She creates and nurtures the creation to bloom. She signifies “Shakti” the power that drives the system. Though the ladies wing was started with the aim of supporting the AMIE examinations, but today , the Ladies Wing have initiated the environmental drive as their main agenda- a humble and modest beginning towards a practically achievable goal. This May, 2009, when the ladies wing met, they pledged to take simple practical steps as families to collectively work for our environment.
Their simple guidelines were-
• Reducing the usage of plastic bags in daily life
• Reduce usage of plastics and rubber in our homes and especially in our kitchens
• Extension to kid’s arena-wrapping birthday or other gifts in old newspaper. it’s really picking on
• Indulge in car-pooling for our routine trips to city centre/sultan centre
• Switching off the power when going out.
The idea was- Though we do it as a family, the context is always global. the ladies wing has been adhering to these for a month and feel satisfied that as individuals, we are learning to be responsible now!!
THE IEI has given the ladies wing a platform where in they can all work as a community with a multiplying effect in the right direction for our collective future. The Installation of GREEN HOUSE is one such collective effort by IEI as small drops in the ocean. A formal inauguration of the IEI_ICSK green club in the presence of H.E. Shri.Ajai Malhotra , the Ambassador of India to The State of Kuwait provided the icing on the cake.
This is just a modest beginning to the IEI Ladies wing ‘s activities with the underlying focus i.e.- to trigger the minds, wider the horizons, enflame the intellect such that we think laterally, innovatively and positively and contribute to the IEI as well as to the society in meaningful ways by taking simple steps!
