IEI Elects in New Office Bearers at its 17th AGM
IEI conducted its 18th Annual General Body Meeting at the grandiose banquet hall in Holiday Inn Downtown, Sharq, Kuwait on Monday 09th April 2012. The proceedings were inaugurated at 6.30 PM with a technical seminar present by Dr. S. Neelmani, Senior Scientist KISR, who was decorated with the best scientist award on the topic of Renewable energy. Mr. Karunakaran EC member gave a brief introduction about the speaker of the seminar, who has many technical accreditations, awards and recognitions from renowned international organisations.   The technical seminar presented some alternate Scientific and Engineering solutions to the electric power shortage problem being faced by Kuwait during the peak summer months when the load power is at peak. Some useful technical data was shared among the participants.

The phenomenal problem of environmental degradation due to use of fossil fuels with excessive emissions of Co2, is resulting in global warming and the resultant effect is the rise in the sea temperatures, which will swallow-up the useful lands of our civilization in the years to come and disappearances of island countries from the global map was once again emphasized by the Scientist Dr. Neelmani, which is of grave concern to the scientific & Engineering community. The solution model for the electric power shortage problem in Kuwait, was discussed with the Engineers which has been developed by KISR as a desktop model and the laboratory model is to be proceeded before a prototype is developed for commercial deployment as an alternate economic, eco- friendly feasible solution. The seminar was savored with great attention by the attending Engineers.

The AGM proceeding was initiated by the General Secretary  Engr. Rishabnath Jain with the General Secretary report, detailing the various activities of the IEI Kuwait chapter during the period 2011-2012. He elaborated on the 5 Technical seminars organized for its members, the IEI Science club activities, which was presented by the children of IEI family throughout the year on important topics like electricity, water, space, health, etc., the IEI Ladies wing activities with their stimulating topics of good parenting, online security for children, personality development, etc and its support group activities of  social  & environmentally  conscious service oriented activities of beach cleaning, tree plantation, etc.
He elaborated further on the huge success of the 44th Engineers day celebrated at Crown plaza which brought the Engineering fraternity on a single platform from the Kuwait Society of Engineers and the IEI Engineers and the gala family day celebrations, which provided an opportunity for the IEI member’s families to get together with fun and frolic and great entertainment. The chairman Engr. P Sundarajan detailed the ideals on which the IEI Kuwait chapter was founded 17 years ago and recollected the contributions of its various members to the Kuwait chapter. The difficulties in running the chapter by providing quality contributions to its members were explained in detail. He requested all the members to actively participate in all the events of IEI and to make it a vibrant professional organisation for the benefit of all. The Treasurer Engr. V.P.Tiwari presented the Annual account report which was audited by Engr. Inabtamizh Ilangovan. The house passed the accounts after some queries were answered and clarified. An Amendment to the Bye- laws of the IEI Kuwait chapter was proposed by the secretary and the amendment regarding the election of office bearers was passed unanimously.

The Chairman dissolved the committee for the year 2011-12 and requested for the election of the new committee for the year 2012-13. The election committee was formed with Engr. P.C George as as chief election officer and Dr. Rumanae and Engr. Sayed Ziadi as election officers. Nominations for the post of Chairman, General Secretary, Treasurer and Executive committee members were invited. After scrutiny of the nominations filed by the election committee, it was announced by the chief election officer the following posts were elected unanimously. Engr. Joseph Panicker, as Chairman, Engr. S. Kannan as the General Secretary, Engr. Mitra as the Treasurer,  and the following Executive members Engr. Karunakaran , Dr. Neelamani,  Engr. Senthil, Engr. Sekhar, Engr.V.P.Tiwari, Engr. Ganesh.   Engr. Inbatamizh Ilangovan was appointed as the auditor for the year 2012-13.

The new committee of IEI for the period 2012 -13 took charge with an address by the New Chairman Engr. Joseph Panicker, making a passionate appeal to all members to join all the events organized by the IEI chapter to strengthen the organisation. The Chairman promised an exciting year 2012 – 13, which will be full of challenges to deliver quality value added input to its member. We wish the chairman and his team all the best.
